Artist's Description

LULAV is from the Hebrew, meaning TWIG, PALM BRANCH (Alcalay, R. The Complete Hebrew English Dictionary. Jerusalem: Massada. 1110).

Hebrew Bible sources - Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the FEAST OF TABERNACLES [FEAST OF BOOTHS] for seven days unto the Lord (Leviticus 23:34) and you shall take of yourselves on the first day [Sukkot] the fruit of a goodly tree [etrog], a palm branch lulav], the myrtle branch [the hadas], and the willow of the brook [the arava], and you shall rejoice before the Lord your God seven days (Leviticus 23:40).
And a cubit on the one side, and a cubit on the other side of that which remains in the length of the curtains of the tent, it shall hang over the sides of the tabernacle on this side and on that side, to cover it (Exodus 26: 13).

Tradition - Sukkot usually translated as TABERNACLES or FESTIVAL OF BOOTHS, occurs for seven days, from Tishri 15 to 21, soon aft...
