HANNAH is an Anglicized version of the Hebrew CHANA meaning GRACE, GRACIOUS, MERCIFUL (Kolatch, Alfred J. 1984. The Complete Dictionary of English and Hebrew First Names, Middle Village: Jonathan David. 335, 336, 300).

Hebrew Bible name - Hannah was the mother of the prophet Samuel, and the wife of Elkanah (Samuel 1:2).
